What is Batt Insulation
Batt insulation is an insulation product that comes in flat pieces. It is generally made up of fiberglass or mineral wool and is ideal for installing between wall framing, and ceiling joists or beams. It is available as a product that is covered with a foil or paper (kraft) or not, which is the difference between faced and unfaced batt insulation.
Advantages of Batt Insulation
The advantage of batt insulation lies in its simplicity. The pieces are sized for standard distances between framing and if installed properly provide insulation that minimizes gaps that can compromise your home’s insulation. Batt insulation can also be stacked in order to provide more insulation. An added benefit is that because it comes in sections it can be removed with a minimal mess if you should change your mind down the road and choose to switch your insulating technique. Because batt insulation does not settle, it provides long-lasting home insulation for years to come.
Disadvantages of Batt Insulation
The main disadvantage of batt insulation is that it is limited in when it can be added home. In order to use batt insulation, you should be adding it to your home when you have exposed wall or attic framing. If your walls are closed with drywall or your attic has a floor then batt insulation is not the right product for you.
Importance of Insulating Your Home
If you have ever been in a poorly insulated home you have probably noticed how uncomfortable it can be in the hot summer months and the cold winter months. The heat seems to beat down from the ceiling in the summer, and the cold seeps in through the walls in the winter. A well-insulated home keeps the elements at bay and can offer you a great deal of savings when it comes to your annual heating and cooling costs. Contact Above All Insulation to find out if batt insulation is your best home insulation option or to schedule a consultation to determine which method of insulation is the best for your home.
